Under the heading “Ready. Set. Grow”, a new initiative is underway in North America to highlight the capability of Cummins Power Generation Energy Solutions Business in the greenhouse sector, where combined heat and power (CHP) is achieving wide recognition as an efficient and cost-effective solution. Conditions today are highly favorable for the adoption of CHP in North America, and Cummins Power Generation has the understanding and capability the greenhouse sector is looking for.

Launched in April, the North America greenhouse campaign is reaching out to growers and greenhouse consulting engineers with a multi-faceted marketing approach, incorporating a new Greenhouse Microsite, literature and mailings. Activities will run for six months through to the 2014 Canadian Greenhouse Conference in Niagara from 8-9 October.

The initiative is designed to focus attention on how CHP offers greenhouse growers an on-site, independent power system that generates profits and revolutionizes greenhouse efficiency. Based on lean-burn, natural gas-powered generators, Cummins CHP solutions capture and reuse waste exhaust heat and CO2 while they generate heat and electricity, enabling greenhouse growers to consolidate multiple resources: electricity for lighting and other operations, thermal energy for heating, and CO2 fertilization to boost crop production by up to 30 percent. As a further benefit, surplus energy may be sold back to the local utility. Compared to traditional utility- and boiler-powered greenhouses, CHP achieves up to 90 percent energy efficiency and utilization, saving as much as 30 percent in energy costs.

Do you need to find a partner to supply industrial fans? Industrial Power Cooling (UK), or IPC (UK), supplies a wide range of industrial fans from the Italian company, Boldrocchi, which makes fans for all types of industrial processes and applications, including the petrochemical industry and power plants. From their factory in Biassano, just north of Milan, the Boldrocchi company supplies fans to industries and businesses all over Europe. The company incorporates several others including Marelli, in the fan business since 1891, Aeroto and De Cardenas, which has been making fans since 1927. They have four main production lines, heat exchangers, equipment for ventilation, equipment to control air pollution, and industrial noise protection equipment.

They also have the best equipped testing facilities in Italy, providing thermal, acoustic and aeraulic testing equipment. This allows them to test all their fans in a way that is fully compliant with the ISO 9001 Quality Certification System. With this history and facilities, it’s perhaps not surprising that they are IPC (UK)’s partner of choice for industrial fans.
